Money Smart for Small Business Series

Come join the DC WBC team and Ariana Flores, BB&T Small Business Development Officer to learn more about financial basic concepts and key points needed to grow a successful enterprise. Our instructor will be using the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's (FDIC) Money Smart for Small Business curriculum modules. Training materials will be provided. Attending the 3 sessions is mandatory. In this 3 part series, topics will include: I- Financial Management (1 hour) After completing this module, the participants will be able to: Understand the essentials of financial management. Apply financial management practices, rules, and tools most relevant for small businesses. Prepare for common business financing needs: start-up finance, working capital, and fixed asset loans. II- Managing Cash Flow (1 hour) This module should be taught after the Financial Management module has been completed. After completing this module, participants will be able to: Understand the purpose of cash flow management in a small business. Make cash flow projections based on the cash cycle. Identify some ways to manage cash flow, including receivables and payables. Work more effectively with technical experts. III- Record Keeping (1 hour) After completing this module, the participants will be able to: Improve their overall recordkeeping practices. Apply tricks and tools relevant to their business. Choose among various software to support their recordkeeping. Orientation for Free Business Counseling

In order to be eligible for free one-on-one business counselings with a Business Development Specialist at the DC WBC, clients must attend an Orientation. Counseling is an engaging, focused and personalized resource. Prospective clients will learn about the Center's services and resources and how the DC WBC can help you achieve your goals. Whether you have been in business for years and are looking to expand or whether you're just starting your business, come find out what the DC Women’s Business Center can do for you! Snacks provided.
